Walk etiquette program

Our services help your dog become a better canine citizen in your neighbourhood, while visiting our city's beautiful parks or while exploring trails. We help you communicate more effectively with your dog. We teach your dog skills and alternative behaviours that they enjoy learning helping them to become more confident! Our goal is for you to have a better behaved companion on your walks and hikes.

In this walk and train program your dog will learn great manners on leash and you will have an enjoyable walking companion. As part of the program we give you a tutorial on how to walk your dog!

Wish your dog didn’t pull you on your walk?

Does your dog want to say "hi" to everyone he sees and forgets that you’re holding on to the leash?

That’s where we come in.

 

Perfect for dogs that need:

  • To learn what to do in certain situations that are encountered during leashed walks to make them more enjoyable and safe.

  • To practice proper leash manners- is walking your dog a chore? 

  • To learn how to stay engaged with the handler in the face of distractions.

  • To work on setting a calm, focused tone for the walk through basic obedience training.

 

This program is tailored to fit the individual needs of your dog and is great for dogs of all ages.

Walk duration: 60 minutes (+ travel time to/from walk location, if applicable)

Frequency: 2x per week minimum

Package of 8 sessions: $400.00

Do you struggle with time to meet your dog's exercise requirements and spend time practicing their basic obedience training? Let us help!

We work on:

  • Door/gate manners.

  • Learning to ride calmly in a vehicle with other dogs.

  • Tone setting to promote calm behaviour.

  • Increase their impulse control.

  • Ability to stay in their listening minds.

Trail etiquette skills include:

  • ​Recall drills-individual, group and emergency.

  • Sit-stay with duration and distance.

  • What to do when encountering other trail users.

  • Learn to pack walk (hold position behind handler) to promote calm, social drive and working together as a group.

Requirements:

  • Well-socialized with dogs and people- no reactive dogs. 

  • No history of aggression or resource guarding.

  • Good leash manners (we walk to and from the vehicle on leash).

  • 1 day per week minimum to gain the maximum benefits of the training routine.

  • Training period (see below) - Note: This may be waived if your pup has reliable off-leash skills or excellent obedience training.

 

Hike duration: 2 hours + time in transit to pick up group mates

Group size: max 8

 

Pricing (includes GST):

1 hike / week: $42.00 per session 

2 hikes / week: $40.00 per session 

3 hikes / week: $38.00 per session 

4 hikes / week: $36.00 per session

Double dog (same household) - $76.00

We set your dog up for success and for maximum safety of your dog and the pack, all dogs must complete a training period of 2-4 sessions depending on the dog's skill level in recall reliability, car manners, leash manners and basic obedience. We understand that being picked up and taken away from home is a BIG deal for most dogs so we gradually introduce your dog so he/she is calmer and more able to follow the routines and instructions that keep them safe.

  • We build a strong foundation to be prepared for the off-leash group experience.

  • We begin the introduction to car door threshold safety, emergency recall, trail etiquette, and the pack walk. 

  • We make sure your dog has good leash manners and introduce them to group walking.

  • Begin to develop a bond between the handler and dog.

  • We introduce them to one of their new pack mates so they have a friend on their first day.

 

Hike duration: 60 minutes+travel time

2 session package: $105.00
